▸ SAP GUI for Windows

Introduction

This document describes how to set up and maintain an SAP GUI Installation Server for the efficient distribution of SAP Front end Components across workstations in your organization.

Overview

SAP’s Front-End Software Deployment Tool – Netweaver SAPSetup not only allows direct installations from distribution media, but also an Installation Server based deployment mechanism that helps distribute SAP Front-End Software to workstations over a network and also using Microsoft SCCM  to deploy the large number of users.

Hardware & Software requirements

  • Accessible to all users at all times, even after the installation is complete. This is required for maintenance purposes such as the distribution of patches
  • Have broadband network connection for high throughput
  • Have sufficiently free disk space for all SAP front end components
  • Use a LINUX  server as operating system

STEP - 1 : Follow the points to access SAP GUI setup file

  • Download the file from the given link.

  • Select the software -> Right Click -> Download

STEP -  2 :  Install Java Runtime Environment

  • SAP GUI for java requires java to run.
  • Ensure you have a compatible java version installed. You can install OpenJDK on Ubuntu
    Using the the following commands :
  • sudo apt update
  • sudo apt install openjdk-11-jre
Terminal commands to update package list and install OpenJDK 11 JRE using sudo apt in bash.
  • To verify that java is installed in the system use the following command:
    java -version
Command typed on screen: java -version
  • Navigate to the folder Containg the File.
  • Open a terminal and go to the directory where the ". jar" file is located
    for example if it's in your Downloads folder.
  • Use the Following commands
    cd ~/Downloads

  • Run the JAR File to install SAP GUI for Java.
  • Run the jar file with the java  -jar command  
  • This command will launch the installation process for SAP GUI for Java.
    Follow the prompts in the installation wizard to proceed.  
Command line text: sudo java -jar plantingui_780_10-

STEP - 3 : Install SAP GUI 770  

  • Click Next  .

  • Click Next Here As Well.

      • Choose installation Directory And Click On Install :

        • Installation of SAP GUI Successfully Completed .

        • Click on the SAP logon Pad.

        • Go to Advanced Tab.
        • Click on Export mode and Enter Description and String Provided to You.

        • Finish the Setup and Double Click to Access.

        • Enter client, and credentials to log into the system; if you are accessing for the first time,you need to change the password.

        • while you are logging in for the first time it will ask you to set new password.
